Happy New Years!!

I can't believe it.. 2009 is almost over!
It feels like it only just started, and yet in a few more hours, we'll be in 2010!!
I must say that I'm going to miss 2009 - a lot has happened throughout this year.
»I graduated high school.
»Started college!
»I've become engaged to an amazing guy that treats me like an angel! :)
»I've found a new, wonderful hobby - blogging. I really enjoy it.
»I've started a 'grown up' life.
»And there are so many other things that have
Happy New Years Everyone!
Hmm. Do I have a New Years Resolution?... Uhmmm.
I do. I'm going to try to not get so worried about things until I know that there's reason to. I'm also going to try and give Joshua a bit more of a break; I tend to argue about things that don't matter at all ( I don't mean to though) - and I'm ready for a change.
What's your New Years Resolution?
Do you think it will last?
Also, don't forget to sign up for my Cupid's Blogger Swap! It's going to be a lottt of fun!

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian *Review*

I recently won the new movie Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and I received it in the mail yesterday. So Joshua and I decided that we'd watch it last night.
Plot of the movie:
Security guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) has to try to rescue his wax friends whom have been shipped off to the Smithsonian Institute.

Popular Cast Members:
Ben Stiller as Larry Daley
Amy Adams as Amelia Earhart
Owen Wilson as Jedediah Smith
Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt
How I rate this movie:
3 1/2 out of a possible 5.

Let me tell ya, this movie is nothing short of the first! It was filled with laughing moments all throughout the movie - which is an aspect that I love!! We really enjoyed this movie - I recommend it to everyone.

I think I can, I think I can.. Win!

Recall for Brittany Murphy "Deadline" poster

As I posted recently, Brittany Murphy, a young & talented actress was found dead on Sunday, December 20, 2009. Brittany was discovered dead by her mother in Brittany's own home, in the shower.
As if this were not devistating enough..
Now, the video retailer, Redbox, is recalling the posters from her last movie - "Deadline."
"Why?" you may ask -- take a look at the poster picture.

The picture is Brittany Murphy's lifeless, dead body in a tub. A little much, if you consider the circumstances of her own death!
I personally think that this shows incredible character of Redbox. Thank you, Redbox.. this is the right thing to do.

R.I.P Brittany Murphy (November 10, 1977 - December 20, 2009.

I did not receive any form of payment or product for this post. It is soley to inform my readers of a terrible death and coincidence.

Sorry I haven't been around..

I'm sorry that I haven't been around too much.. but whenever the families in town & the holiday's call - I must answer.
I will hopefully be posting pictures of Christmas presents soon for everyone to see.
I hope that everyone has had a great few holiday days and are about ready to get back on the ball. After today, I should be rolling again.

Merry Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve today! Finally. One more night until it's family, friends, presents, and yummy food! I hope that everyone has an incredible Christmas. Take some time, relax with your family. This year has been wonderful & everyone deserves a break!!
Merry Christmas Eve!!

Something Cheerful

I woke up this morning, went to the mailbox, checked it - NOTHING.
The mail hadn't ran yet. I love getting mail - it's wonderful, and always puts a smile on my face whenever I get something (unless it's a bill, of course..).
So, I just went back out & checked the mail. Maybe there'll be something good this time.
Five pieces of mail - Bill. Bill. Bank Statement. Junk. -- And then... something else!
It was for me! Yay! In the upper right-hand corner read The Mommy-Files! I knew it was my coupon for Free Stephen's Hot Chocolate that I had recently won. And it was. But.. there was something else! A card? Yess! This is the FIRST Christmas card that I've received!!
Thank you so much, Shannon! Your card really made my day!! Your card was such a surprise, but I love it. I wish you a very Merry Christmas, as well.

I did not receive any form of payment or product for this post. It is soley for the entertainment of my readers and to thank a fellow blogger (i.e. The Mommy-Files)

Christmas - just days away.

I've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting.. and waiting some more! But it's finally here. It's finally Christmas time!

It's my first Christmas 'on my own' ... with Joshua. I didn't use anyone else's money to buy presents, I didn't let my parents have the 'shopping stress' all to themselves.. I did stuff on my own. Decorated my stuff, on my own. (With Joshua's help). But my point is that I didn't have my parents helping me.. It's my first 'adult Christmas'.

Unfortunately, I got over excited and started doing Christmas shopping in early October! I was finished Christmas shopping before Halloween! Therefor, I've been 'in the Christmas spirit' for a pretty long time now. And it's seemed like November and this part of December has taken sooo long to get here!
I suppose that you could say I went a little crazy on my first Christmas. But I've enjoyed it! Although I'm starting to feel the exhaustation kick in. Who know's maybe I'll get a spa certificate or a homeade coupon for a free back-rub. hehe

Now, I'm not one to brag or anything, but I really must say that I am so proud of myself for my first Christmas, I think I've done things pretty well. Shopping, cooking, wrapping, decorating -- all of it. Everything may not be totally perfect, but it is done and ready for everyone to enjoy.
Basically, I'm ready for Christmas - I was ready months ago. And guess what? My wait is almost over!
Anyone else this excited??

Saturday 9: White Chrsitmas - #3

Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random uestions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

1. If you live where you get winter weather, do you prefer your Christmas to be white? If you never see snow, do you wish for it?
I lived in Fort Myers, Florida until about 4 years ago & although there was no snow, I loved it; it was chilly but not cold & wintery but still beautiful. Now I live in Tennessee, and it snows quite often through the winter time (even last night!).. I didn't think I'd like the snow, but I do. And I'm hoping for a White Christmas.

2. How many holiday cards did you receive from people you hadn't sent cards to, after the "mailing deadline?" Did you send a card anyway?
I, sadly, have had no cards sent to me. I suppose it's because I'm new to being on my own.

3. When the clock strikes Midnight on New Year's, will you be at home, at a party, or somewhere else?
Joshua & I haven't really decided what we'll do for new years. Although we've mentioned going to different places, it's still up in the air.

4. Have you ever taken the keys and driven home a friend that you felt was too drunk to drive? If not, do you think you would attempt to if that situation ever arose?
I have not. But if the situation were to ever come up, I would not hesitate doing so.

5. Tell us about a gift that you either bought or made for someone else that you wanted for yourself!
Oh goodness, whenever I did the Holiday Blogger Swap (Thanks Shannon for hosting!!) I bought quite a few things for my swap buddy that I would have loved to keep.

6. What chores do you have left for the holidays?
I have one last present to wrap. Just one. Then, I'm done with thte gifts part. All I need to do now is figure out what I'm going to make for desert.

7. If you could buy one gift for yourself where money was not an obstacle, what would it be?
A house. Not an apartment. No renting. A house... if money was no object.

8. What is one of your family’s favorite holiday traditions?
My entire family all meets up for a Christmas dinner at my grandparents. But my most favorite is whenever me & my mom would sneak into the living room before my dad or sister woke up & we would start looking at the Christmas stuff before anyone else → THEN we'd wake everyone else up.

9. If you could give a fellow blogger a holiday gift, which would it be and what would you give them?
It would probably be Shannon from The Mommy-files. She is constantly working (which in some ways I'm thankful for because I love her site) but she certainly deserves a break. If I had the financial ability, I would send her, her husband and three boys on a beautiful (& excitingly fun) vacation. I don't know where to, but I'd figure it out.

Thank you for participating in the Saturday 9. Now, go post the same questions on your blog → answer them & then visit Saturday 9 to post the location of your post so that others can visit your site. This is a great way to make blogging buddies.
Don't forget to check out my Land O' Lakes Coupon Giveaway. 5 winners will each win 3 coupons!! There are VERY LOW ENTRIES; please enter.

Aloha Friday #1

Today is my first time doing Aloha Friday, curtesy of An Island Life! It is where a single question is asked, and everyone answers it. Friday's are meant to be relaxing. So, after you post your answer, go write a short Aloha Friday post and then → relax!
Happy Friday!
Question:
Do you prefer getting gifts that were picked out for you or recieving cash for the holidays?

My Answer:
I, believe it or not, like to receive the gifts that other people pick out for me. I like to see what people get me when they don't acutally know me too well. People can only go on what others show to them - so I like to see what people gather from what I show them. I like people to use their imagination & thoughts when they buy something for me rather than just pull a few dollars out of their pockets. :)

Please post your answers below.

Check out my Land O' Lakes Coupon giveaway. (5 winners, 3 coupons each) Hosted by me.

Scary Road to Perfection

So, Joshua and I have been together for just over a year now. Whenever we first met, my hair looked like this.

Very short. Nothing special. I couldn't really do much with my hair, but I always tried to keep it fixed well for him. It was usually just straight or leave it natural (slightly wavy) or just put it up in a nice looking bun / ponytail.
However, there were those days that, by the looks of my hair, I should have been waiting for my application to work at a Haunted House.

Nice, don't you think? Let's just say that my hair does it's own thing. I can try to make it look however I want, but it doesn't always agree with what I like -- so it does it's own thing.
I usually am awake no later than 9:30 a.m., which I feel that considering I'm a 19-year old, freshman in college that I handle mornings extremely well. However, yesterday, I woke up a bit earlier than usual because I had to take my LAST final! (woo-hooo!!!) Anyways, I get home from taking my final around 10:00 a.m. and decided that I needed a shower. I didn't have time for one earlier. When I was in the shower, I started thinking about my hair (nothing new, usually when I wash my hair, I think of different ways that I'd like to 'one day' try doing my hair - although it never really happens).

At any rate, I decided that I was going to do something different today, not just because I wanted to but also because Joshua has never seen my hair curly. He's seen it straight, and seen it natural, but never has he seen me "all dolled up."

So the journey began.

I grabbed the gel, hairspray, and two hair-ties. I seperated my hair into two even parts, using my natural part (like you would do if you wanted pigtails). Then I applied the gel, lots of it. I put up both sides of my hair, seperately, into two horrific buns. Then layered on the hairspray.

Poor Joshua. I ran into the room (where he was still sleeping).. snuck into the bed and woke him up, while looking like this. haha. I could tell that he was confused.

So I explained to him that I looked like this so that I could look pretty for him later. He leaned up, kissed my forehead and said "You're always beautiful to me, my silly girl." Ah. Something's are just too sweet to let go of -- and Joshua is certianly one of them.
Later, around noon, we had to go to town. So I took down my awful looking buns, and sprayed in more hairspray. The aftermath was sheer perfection and total luck.

This picture is at around 11:30 p.m., which was almost 12 hours after I had taken my hair down for the first time. I was so excited. I'm not one to think of myself as gorgeous or anything, it just isn't like me to do so -- but I certainly did think my hair looked fantastic!!

If only most guys understood what ladies go through in order to look good for them. I'm so thankful that Joshua does not expect this sort of appearance from me.. However, he does say that I looked amazing with my hair curly and that 'if I wanted to' then I could do it again soon. I told him that I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

Want a signature?

The steps to making a signature are incredibly simple. I just made my own signature in less than 5 minutes!! Really!
Here are the simple steps to creating your own signature:
»Go to MyLiveSignature.com.
»Create a FREE account. Click the CLICK HERE TO START button to do so. Now you should be at a page where it gives you three choices: 1Using the signature creation wizard, 2Draw a signature straight to the screen, 3Using a snanned image. Click one of the options and go to next page. I chose the first option: Using the signature creation wizard, which is what the following steps explain how to do. However, if you want to use another, the directions seem to be quite simple.
»Type in your name or nickname (whatever you'd like the signature to read).
»Pick one of the fonts. I chose number 1, I like the swirls.
»Choose the size of the font that you think looks best. I chose Size #5, not too big, not too small.
»Now choose the text color and background color. I chose to leave mine normal.
»Next, choose the slope of your signature. I did mine as a Slope #5.
»Two Options Now. Read all of this before choosing. 1Now choose what you will be using the signature on, for me it was Blogger, then use the form that it gives you. The website will then go in and post a small post on whatever site you chose and say something like "Awesome signatures made here - Cool" and then have a website button or something. 2To avoid having this done, simply save the picture of your signature rather than choosing a site.

*CLOSED*Land O' Lakes Coupon Giveaway (5 winners)

I, for one, am not a major cofee drinker. I've always been a "morning" person, ever since my parents can remember. When I was about five years old, I would wake up at 6:00 a.m. and try to fix my own breakfast so that I wouldn't wake up my parents in the mornings. I say "try" because while attempting to fix my cereal, I would spill the cereal & the milk everywhere. Eventually, my parents started sitting out a small cup of milk and have a bowl already filled with cereal for me. Thanks Mommy & Daddy!
Needless to say, some mornings, I sure do enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee. Now, when I do decide to drink coffee, I don't like it "black". In my opinion, I can only think of one word that sums up black coffee - "yuck." But I suppose that depends on the person. In my coffee, I add enough creamer that it turns it a soft tan color.
When I was younger and was exploring coffee with my mom, I always used milk. Not creamer, just milk. But then, as I became a little more comfortable with trying new things, I tried Land O' Lakes Half & Half. Yumm! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with using milk because I still use plain milk as a creamer from time to time. All I'm saying is that I prefer using Land O' Lakes.
Land O' Lakes is a pretty well-known company. They sell multiple products: butter, half and half, milk and many other things.
If you've never tried Land O' Lakes prodcuts, well, now's the chance!
I have a total of fifteen coupons. Each coupon is for 75¢ OFF of one quart or half gallon Half & Half, any variety. These coupons do not expire until 2/28/2010!!
This means that you can choose any of THESE and get 75¢ OFF of that purchase.

Wow! I really love entering giveaways! Even if I don't win, it's fun to enter. Yea, I'm wierd.. I actually like filling out the forms (sometimes).
This morning, I found a fantastic site that had almost 30 current giveaways!! And of course, I wanted to enter them!
I fill out the form with the required entry. Click Submit. No problem.
Fill out the form with the first second entry. Click Submit. BAMMM!
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.
Uhg. Okay. No biggie, I'll just type a bit slower.
So I fill out the next extra entry:
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.
And there that little booger is again!
Alright! Fine! I will type with my darn index fingers only, if it makes you happier.
I fill out the next extra entry (I love extra entries!!) and
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.
Okay. Something has to be wrong here. By this point, I'm typing about 5 words in thirty seconds, which really is a longgg time in the typing world.
I'm tellin ya, this Demon hates me! Soo, what do I do? Give up the many, many giveaways that are still left to enter on this site or continue to type like a snail when I should be doing some homework? Ahh. Giveaways, how I love thee.
Of course I continued to enter the giveaways. It has taken me almost one entire hour to enter the giveaways! But, I like giveaways, they're fun to do and even better to win!
And as added by Mami2jcn, the Captcha codes are pretty evil, as well.
So, to the point. Have any of you found this Blogger Demon? Does it love aggrivate you as much as it does me? Are there any other Blogger Demons that I should know about?

Saturday 9: Don't Talk to Strangers

Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

1. Tell us about a night that you spent with someone who was a stranger, yet by the end of the night you were very close.
In total honesty, I have yet to spend the night with a total stranger.

2. When is the last time you rode the bus?
Whenever I was in high school, I suppose. But then again, that was only 7 months ago.

3. Describe the last time you stood up for a cause.
I don't know if this counts - but I stood up for my cousin the other day because people were treating him wrongfully.
4. What is something you would like to do, but you're afraid of the risk(s)?
Oh gosh. Everything! I'm such a chicken. But I would love to go sky-diving or bungee jumping. Sounds fantastic, but I know that someone would have to push me, because I surely wouldn't jump.

5. What would you most like to accomplish before the year is over?
Well, I would like to pass my other two classes. I have taken two finals so far, and passed both of them. So, I would like to pass my other two finals and therefore be ready for my next semester of college! :)

6. Name something you'll miss about 2009.
Hmm. High School. Part of the 2009 year, I was in high school. I already miss it, in ways. I miss being there and seeing everyone.

7. If you could invent something, what would it be?
I use to always want to invent a backpack that could make personal pizzas and drinks. :) Don't take my idea.. I still plan on doing this one day. hehe

8. What first got you started blogging?
The Mommy-FIles! I was searching giveaways on Google and the links always led to her site. After I realized that there were so many giveaways involved in blogging, I couldn't pass it up.

9. How did you find this meme?
I found it through Annies Home on THIS POST and decided it would be something fun to try and keep up with! This is my second week doing the Saturday 9 and so far, I really enjoy it.

Crazy Cooking Experience And Tip

It's my dad's birthday today! Happy Birthday, Daddy!
Well, I decided that I'd make him his FAVORITE desert ever! (It's a fruit desert that his aunt use to make for him whenever he was younger) -- It includes a few different fruits, jello, and sour cream ;; nothing too hard - or so I thought.
I've made it twice before: once around last Christmas & once for Father's Day. This time, it was different...Somehow, I managed to make it terrible! I mean, close to unedible! Grosss! (I'm thinking that the sour cream was bad.) Yet, my dad still ate a few bites -- he's a great Daddy!
I suppose that tonight would have been a good night to have used Dinner in a Box by Destination Dinners! Destination Dinners are Recipe Kits that combine food, travel and beautiful design into an incredibly memorable gift. Maybe if I had one of these, I could have gotten everything right for desert! On the bright side, I was able to save the night by making Apple Dumplings and putting Vanilla ice cream on top of them! YUMM!
Either way, the Destination Dinners would have made things better!

Speaking of Destination Dinners, MomStart is having a giveaway for one! So, if you'd like to try one for yourself, head on over to MomStart & enter to win! CLICK HERE to enter! (12/28)

I did not receive any form of payment, recomendation or product for this post. All facts of this product have come from Destination Dinner's website. This post is for the enjoyment of my readers.

Gatlinburg Trip - Christmas Parade

We're back from Gatlinburg! The trip was wonderful! The hotel room was comfy - dinner & breakfast were terrific, even the ride wasn't torturous. Unfortuantely, the pictures that I have are not quite so great - my phone doesn't take very good pictures, but here's what all I could get between Joshua's phone and mine. This balloon that these people are guiding is super gigantic and very pretty! (I would have been afraid to blow away.)
Joshua and I in front of a beautiful waterfall -- we didn't know it didn't show in the picture.
Almost everyone has an 'imaginary boyfriend/girlfriend' when they're younger -- Joshua's "first girlfriend" was Betty Boop! So here's a cute picture of Joshua & Betty.
And here's a picture of me with Joshua's ex. Obviously I'm not too thrilled about being so close to my competition. I've gotta hand it to her, she's pretty tough competition. :)
These guys looked so real.
Yeppers, it's Forest Gump!! (Ahh, it was freezing!)
This is Joshua, laying on the hotel bed.
I tried on a "pimp" hat -- didn't look too pimp, though.
I was trying to scare away the scary gorilla -- didn't work.
This was such a fantastic trip - and well needed. We had so much fun and although there aren't many pictures of the acutal parade -- it was all beautiful! I look forward to going again next year.

Saturday 9! #1

I've decided to try something new:
Saturday 9!
I am going to try my best to be a part of this - 9 questions and 9 answers every Saturday.

1. What to you is the most joyous aspect of the holidays?
This is my first holiday season being able to buy for my family & I must say that it's been the best to me, thus far. I love being able to get other people gifts!

2. Do you get much snow where you live? If yes, do you enjoy winter sports like skiing or would you rather stay in by the cozy fire?
There's a bit of snow (even right now!) but not enough to do much with it. However, if there were, I would love to try skiing or sledding...then again, a warm fire & hot cocoa sounds stupendous!

3. Have you ever been on a sleigh ride or a carriage ride? Do you even like horses?
I have not - but I think it would be wonderful.

4. During the busy week, what do you do to relax?
I enter giveaways. ha. Actually, aside from that, I like to watch movies with Joshua at the $3 theater.

5. Do you get stressed during the holidays?
I haven't yet, but give it time - as I said before, this is my first holiday season being able to do things on my own.. so I haven't had the time to get stressed yet. :)

6. What holiday song could you happily never hear again?
Ah, as terrible as this sounds -- I don't really care much for the holiday music. I prefer everyday music. (Although I secretly love "Santa Baby.")

7. How do you decide on what present you pick for a person?
I just go shopping at a store that I like, look around, and if I happen to see something and I automatically think "Wow! My sister would love this.." or "Whoa! Joshua could really use this.." - then I buy it.

8. What does this holiday season mean to you and why?
So far, it's the best. Joshua and I are finally able to purchase gifts for our families and begin our own family trends. It's amazing.

9. What holiday movies best describe the season for you and why?
Really.. I'm not sure. At the moment, I can't even think of a holiday movie.

Happy 50 posts to me!

Soooo, this is my 50th post! I know that isn't a lot compared to many of you - but it certainly feels like a lot to me! :)
I never even expected blogging to last; between being a Full-time college student, keeping time with my fiance, and all of the other things that I do.. But suprise, suprise -- 50!!
I'm sorry that I don't have a giveaway for you all - if I could, I would. Maybe on post 75 or 100?? I'll see what I can do! :)
After all, my readers deserve a little something for being loyal.

Soo, I'd like to thank everyone that is following me and reading my blog -- I know I'm not a very active blogger, but I promise that I try to be.
Thank you all.

Maple Mustard Ham Steak! yumm!

I know, I usually don't post recipes -- but I made this the other night and it was mouthwatering -- it literally made Joshua's mouth drop whenever he walked inside the house. Yummm, right? Oh yes!

What You Need:
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1/4 cup maple-flavored or pancake syrup
1 Tbsp. cider vinegar
1 ham steak (1 lb.)

Cooking it:
PREHEAT grill to medium heat. Mix mustard, syrup and vinegar in small bowl; set aside.
GRILL ham steak 3 min. on each side. Brush with 1/4 cup of the mustard mixture; cook 1 to 2 min. more on each side or until heated through.
SERVE with the remaining mustard mixture.

If you want to Jazz It Up:
Add extra flavor by grilling over soaked hickory wood chips.
Use Your Broiler
Preheat broiler. Place ham on rack of broiler pan; brush with 1/4 cup of the mustard mixture. Broil, 4 to 6 inches from heat, 3 min. on each side or until heated through. Serve with the remaining mustard mixture.

Prep Time: 5 min
Total Time: 11 min
Makes: 4 servings

It really is super easy, and I'm tellin ya, it was fantastic! I'm not very big on ham -- but this was certainly something I'll try again!

Can't Wait for the Weekend!!

Friday, Joshua and I are going taking a vacation with Joshua's parents!! Vacation? Oh yes, a vacation!
We're going to Gatlinberg to see the Christmas Parade!
I'm realy excited -- for a bunch of reasons!
1 - I've never been to a "real" parade -- only the ones in my small town!
2 - I've never been to Gatlinberg (And I've heard that it's crazy awesome!)
3 - A vacation ;; who wouldn't be excited?!

I'll try to take pictures, but the phone that I have doesn't take very good pictures - either way, I'll try!

Do you have any plans for these Holiday Seasons? Any vacations?
